100 Greatest Cinemas in the World
Kino Lucerna, Prague

I talk a lot about streaming cinema on here, and that is not because I think streaming rules and the theatrical experience blows. Quite the contrary. It is a question of circumstance. I live in the sticks and there is only one acceptable movie theater within an hour of me. I will always take the theatrical experience over streaming. Seeing a movie in the theater as opposed to on a home screen is like eating pizza out in Bologna vs. Papa Murphy's. A when I travel I see at least one movie a day in the cinema (Paris in late April, baby!).

Apropos of the concept of cinematic tourism, Time Out magazine recently published an exhaustive, gorgeously photographed feature on the 100 greatest cinemas operating around the world today. It is pure catnip and I am looking at it as a sort of lifestyle guide for my time remaining. I have seen films in 19 of the 100, so there is much work to do. Check out this wonderful article, and see a movie in a theater today. Here are my 19 visited listed by Time Out.
